How to calculate percentages by hand
Percent means “per hundred”. To find X% of a number, multiply the number by X and divide by 100 (for example, 15% of 1200 = 1200 × 15 / 100 = 180). To find what percent one number is of another, divide the first by the second and multiply by 100. For percentage change, subtract the old value from the new, divide by the old value, and multiply by 100.

How do I work out percentage increase or decrease?
