Price with margin

CGST, SGST and IGST explained

GST is split based on where the buyer and seller are. For a sale within the same state (intra-state), the tax is divided equally into CGST (central) and SGST (state), so 18% GST becomes 9% + 9%. For a sale between two states (inter-state), the whole tax is charged as IGST (18% stays 18%). The total tax is the same either way; only the split changes.

Frequently asked questions

How do I remove GST from a total (reverse GST)?

To find the base amount from a GST-inclusive price, divide the total by (1 + rate/100). For example, at 18% GST, base = total / 1.18, and the GST is the difference. This calculator’s Remove GST mode does it instantly, including the CGST or SGST split.

What is the difference between CGST, SGST and IGST?

CGST and SGST apply together on sales within one state (each is half the GST rate), going to the central and state governments respectively. IGST applies as a single tax on inter-state sales. The total tax you pay is identical, only the split and destination differ.

How does margin mode help me price a product?

Enter your cost price and the profit margin percentage you want on that cost. The tool adds your profit to get the taxable value, then adds GST on top to show the final price the customer pays, so you never under-price and lose margin to tax.

What GST rate applies to digital marketing services?

Most professional and digital services in India, including digital marketing, SEO and web development, fall under the 18% GST slab. Always confirm your SAC code and the current rate, as slabs can be revised by the GST Council.
