FD Calculator: Maturity, Payout & Real Value
Work out your fixed deposit maturity with the right compounding, switch to monthly or quarterly interest payout, add the senior-citizen rate, and see the real value after inflation.
A Fixed Deposit (FD) earns a guaranteed rate for a set period. This free calculator does more than the basics: choose cumulative (interest reinvested and compounded) or payout (regular interest income), pick the compounding frequency, apply the senior-citizen rate, and check the inflation-adjusted value of your maturity amount.

What makes this FD calculator different?
Real compounding
Indian banks usually compound FD interest quarterly, not yearly. Choosing the right frequency gives you an accurate maturity value, not a rough guess.
Payout mode
Living off interest? Switch to payout mode to see your exact monthly or quarterly income while the principal stays safe.
Senior-citizen rate
Senior citizens usually get about 0.50% extra. One tick applies the higher rate so retirees see their true returns.
Real (inflation-adjusted) value
See what your maturity amount is actually worth in today’s money, so you know if the FD beats inflation.
How FD maturity is calculated
For a cumulative FD, maturity is calculated with compound interest: A = P × (1 + r/n)^(n × t), where P is the deposit, r is the annual rate (as a decimal), n is how many times a year interest is compounded (4 for quarterly), and t is the tenure in years. For a payout (non-cumulative) FD, interest is not reinvested, so each period you receive simple interest on the principal and get the full principal back at maturity.

Frequently asked questions
How is FD interest compounded in India?
Most Indian banks compound fixed deposit interest quarterly for cumulative FDs. That means interest is added to the principal every three months and the next quarter’s interest is calculated on the higher balance. This calculator lets you pick quarterly, monthly, half-yearly or yearly compounding to match your bank.
What is the difference between cumulative and payout FDs?
In a cumulative FD the interest is reinvested and paid out together with the principal at maturity, so your money compounds. In a payout (non-cumulative) FD the interest is paid to you at regular intervals, such as monthly or quarterly, and the principal is returned at the end. Payout FDs suit people who want a steady income.
Do senior citizens get a higher FD rate?
Yes. Most banks offer senior citizens roughly 0.50% more than the standard rate, though the exact bonus varies by bank and scheme. Tick the senior-citizen option to add 0.50% and see the higher maturity value. Always confirm the exact rate with your bank.
Is FD interest taxable?
Yes. FD interest is added to your income and taxed at your slab rate, and banks deduct TDS once interest crosses the annual threshold. This tool shows pre-tax figures, so factor in tax and check the inflation-adjusted value to judge the real return.
Is my data sent anywhere?
