What is the ideal title tag length?
Google truncates titles by pixel width (around 600px), which is roughly 50–60 characters. Keep your most important keywords near the front so they show even if the title is shortened.
What is the ideal meta description length?
Aim for about 120–155 characters (up to ~920px). Long enough to be compelling and include a keyword, short enough that Google doesn’t cut it off with an ellipsis.
Why measure pixels instead of just characters?
Google truncates by width, not character count. A “W” is much wider than an “i”, so two titles with the same character count can display very differently. Pixel width is the accurate measure.
Does the meta description affect rankings?
Not directly, but a well-written description improves your click-through rate from search — and higher CTR can indirectly support rankings. It’s your ad copy in the search results.
